THE ROLE

  • An allocator role is the gateway to a rewarding career in merchandising, working alongside a very talented, hardworking team. The role is primarily admin focused and allocators provide support to the entire merchandise team. Allocators ensure that stock is directed to stores in the right volumes at the right time to optimise profitability. This includes analysing store/web sales and replenishing stock when it is low or allocating new product when it arrives in the warehouse for the first time. The Allocator will often be the first point of contact for the stores to the merchandising team. It is important that the Allocator has a keen eye for detail so that the retail stores/web never run out of stock.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Running weekly reports which inform decisions and actions for the week and month ahead
  • Managing stock levels in stores/websites to ensure sales are optimised through the correct allocation of stock
  • Communication with stores and the warehouse to ensure the smooth transit of stock In and out of the warehouse to stores
  • Liaising with other parts of the business as and when necessary
  • Actioning any price/product code changes on the ERP system

MORE DETAIL

  • REPORTS
  • Running the Monday morning reports
  • Merchandise, Bestsellers, Store vs. Plan, Intake
  • Running daily intake report to identify what new styles or repeats have come into the warehouse. Allocate the styles as and when required, depending on phases.
  • Reviewing bestsellers report in detail, providing feedback and observations
  • Part Week bestsellers run go through and double check bestselling lines and forecasted cover
  • AX
  • Working proficiently with the company ERP system called AX
  • Allocate enough stock for all necessary styles (quantities dependent on time of year, any events, sale etc)
  • Update Product Price List on AX with prices when required
  • Set up and run new styles onto Ideal Replenishment Plans
  • MEETINGS
  • Bestsellers meeting merch team review each product area and discuss any issues/highlights of the previous week
  • Attend wider business meetings as required to discuss any amendments to delivery dates and update accordingly on the delivery schedule
  • SEASON AND PHASES
  • Set up the allocation plan for the season and update when necessary (when new styles are agreed, quantities change and styles are transferred).
  • Set up and keep updated phases and options spreadsheets, providing feedback to relevant business areas as required
  • Checking what is due in and what is outstanding. Chase up any outstanding styles with relevant teams.
  • STORE COMMUNICATION
  • Action transfers on a fortnightly basis analysis of store requirements.
  • Gathering feedback and trading patterns from stores
  • WAREHOUSE AND SHIPPING COMMUNICATION:
  • Daily communication with the warehouse regarding the Pick Schedule, delivery issues and replenishment.
  • Communication with Shipping regarding priority styles, TBDC booking sheet and delayed or outstanding deliveries.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

  • Entry Level
  • No experience required but some retail knowledge is preferred

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • A strong communicator both verbal and written
  • This is a busy role, so being able to prioritise efficiently and work to deadlines is very important
