Description of the Project
Out of Hand is an established Design, Print and Distribution specialist. We are the operators of the official Outdoor Advertisement scheme for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
We have a fantastic reputation for our Print & Distribution services in the Events & Leisure sector and are on the current Edinburgh City Council's approved suppliers list.
Out of Hand is contracted to handle all aspects of the Edinburgh Fringe Outdoor Advertisement scheme, this covers various aspects such as building advertisement structures, installing advertisement boards, maintenance and break down.
In 2019 the project saw us install over 7km of posters throughout the entire city and our 2023 project is on track to be on a similar scale.
The Role:
As Senior Warehouse Supervisor you will work closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure Health and Safety guidelines in the warehouse are followed at all times.
You will be responsible for ensuring the flow of information and advertisement boards in and out of the warehouse is following the procedure outlined by the Lead Systems Developer and Operations Manager.
You will likely be responsible for and working closely with a team of warehouse operatives and a warehouse/OPS based intern.
You may also be expected to work with and help guide the customer service-based intern.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the Staff Induction through working closely with the Lead Systems Developer and Operations manager to explain the Scanning App and flow of information into the warehouse and onto the advertising structures.
- Prep correx poster board to go out a day in advance through liaising with the Senior Build Supervisor and Operations Manager to ensure picking lists are following the progress occurring in the field.
- Ensure all Risk assessments and method statements relative to the warehouse activity are adhered to, up to date and fit for purpose.
- Ensuring the safe unloading and loading of advertising product from our suppliers, into the warehouse and then into our company vehicles.
- Responsible for checking POs from Production against what is arriving in the Warehouse from the printing company.
- Supervising OOH's stock of tools and equipment and ensuring all teams have what they need for the day's jobs through liaising with the Build Supervisors. This will involve being responsible for signing in and out some tools/equipment such as drills and ipads.
- Creating POs for Out of Hand for items such as hired vehicles.
- Assist Warehouse Manager with operating the forklift in their absence.
- Day to day supervision of your own team, including ensuring they are wearing company specific uniform and PPE at all times.
- Assisting with the project disassembly by ensuring all equipment is returned and packed ready to be returned to Bristol or our local suppliers.
Other general duties will include:
- Assisting with Customer Service and Operations based admin
- Assisting with building and installing all the advertisement boards
- Driving and assisting with the distribution or delivery of advertisement material to locations in central Edinburgh
- Assisting with the maintenance of the advertisement boards and cleaning around structures and street furniture
Desired Skills and Experience:
- A full, clean driving licence
- Strong communication skills
- Highly professional manner
- An ability to build on and develop strong relationships
- A working understanding of Health and Safety and conversant with the creation of Risk Assessments
- Ability to plan and manage a team's workload and tasks
- Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Ability to multitask
- Understanding of Outdoor Advertising
- Have attended and/or have a good understanding of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Further Information:
The Project will run from Monday 10th July until Friday 15th September 2023.
We will be running a 7 day a week operation and looking at running some night shifts this year.
Daytime shifts from 8.00am to 6.00pm. Evening shifts from 6.00pm to 2.00am.
Any evening work undertaken between 10pm and 7am will also equate to an enhanced rate of 1.5 times hourly rate.
