    Site based during construction period 2 days per week, Office based during pre-construction

    Summary of Role

    The primary role of the Senior Technical Manager is to oversee and manage all technical and design aspects of the construction project from inception and pre-construction through the construction process to completion. This role will involve managing the design team, coordinating with external consultants, and ensuring that design objectives are met while adhering to project timelines and budgets. The role will require a strong understanding of construction principles, building regulation and compliances, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

    Main responsibilities

    Lead the technical aspects of construction projects, including pre-construction, planning, design co-ordination, and construction implementation.

    Produce, review and evaluate project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

    Produce standardised scope documents for technical appointments and ensure design responsibilities are covered through extensive design responsibility matrix allocation and scope gap analysis.

    Manage and maintain a comprehensive PI tracking document for all consultants.

    Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement technical solutions that meet project objectives.

    Manage the team of designers, architects, and engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the delivery of high-quality design solutions.

    Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams throughout the construction process.

    Conduct design reviews, coordination meetings, and value engineering exercises to optimize design solutions and minimize costs.

    Conduct site inspections and quality assessments to monitor construction progress and identify potential issues or risks.

    Co-ordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve technical challenges and optimize construction processes.

    Manage the implementation of innovative technologies and construction methods to improve project efficiency and quality.

    Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and presentations for project stakeholders.

    Co-ordination – Collaborating with the project manager to raise issues with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve any issues that may arise during construction.

    Documentation – keeping accurate records of project activities, including RFIs, progress reports, change orders, and all other relevant documentation as dictated within the IMS.

    Problem solving - Identifying and resolving challenges or obstacles, such as unforeseen site conditions, material shortages or incompatible materials, that may arise during construction.

    Manage the early procurement of required utilities for the project including the assessment of existing infrastructure for suitability for the project.

    Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to construction design and incorporate relevant innovations into project designs.

    Environmental compliance - Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and implementing sustainable construction practices where possible.

    Handover and closeout - Facilitating the handover of the completed project to the client, including any necessary documentation, training, and follow-up support, and overseeing the closeout process.

    Set a good example at all times and strive for best-in-class system.

    Required skills & Experience

    Proven track record of successfully managing complex construction projects from conception to completion preferably in residential construction.

    Strong knowledge of construction process, techniques and materials including an in-depth knowledge and understanding of planning regulations and building regulations.

    Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

    Familiarity with sustainable design principles, BIM methodologies, and digital design tools is desirable.

    Excellent communication skills including the ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports where necessary.

    Proven track record of good people and team management skills.

    Good IT Skills to encompass Asta and/or Microsoft Project.

    Maintain a high standard of personal presentation.

    Demonstrate reliability including the ability to deliver high standards of both punctuality and attendance to ensure team effectiveness and availability.

    Ability to multi task, prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a fast paced environment.

    Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.

    An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to all stakeholders.

    An interest in and commitment to the work of LLO for its clients.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

    Full Driving Licence

    Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on technical aspects.
