Reading, Berkshire (with hybrid working in the UK)

We are now looking for a confident and adaptable Junior Buyer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 7:30am - 4:30pm from Monday to Friday.

The Role
As a Junior Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials and services to ensure we can continue to produce products that meet our customers' needs

Focusing on price, quality and delivery, you will work alongside the Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing Assistants to handle purchasing enquiries and support the supply chain.

You'll establish and develop supplier relationships, reviewing and negotiating contractsto achieve the best prices whilst evaluating suppliers and their performance.

You'll contact suppliers regarding any issues that are experience, monitoring and advising on the resolution and checking invoices to ensure discrepancies are dealt with.


Additionally, you will:

  • Issue orders and record price revisions on the purchasing system
  • Complete purchasing reports and internal pricing spreadsheets
  • Analyse costs and review cost reduction activities
  • Conduct research into new components and suppliers

About You
To be considered as a Junior Buyer, you will need:

  • Experience of working in a purchasing team, preferably within construction or manufacturing environment
  • The ability to read technical drawings
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
  • Financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts production, manufacturing and customer order fulfilment
  • Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • To hold, or be working towards, a CIPS qualification (or equivalent)
  • IT proficiency
  • A full, valid driving licence
