What's the scope of the role?_**As Head of Supply Chain, you will have the responsibility for the department which manages the day-to-day operations within the Contract Management, Procurement & Inventory Teams for the full EDF Renewables UK & Ireland operational portfolio.

Your role will ensure that the department delivers value for money in the acquisition of all goods and services in support of safe, reliable, and high performing operations.


You will lead a team of professionals to ensure that chosen suppliers operate to required expectations to meet the business requirements and investors' expectations and meet the demands of the business and supports inventory planning.

The Head of Supply Chain will also be expected to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with product, equipment manufactures and key service providers.

What you will be doing day to day._**- Provide commercial leadership, supporting high-performing operations by ensuring that 'value for money' is obtained from the supply of all goods and services.


  • Provide commercial management of contracts including support for supplier appraisal, development of specifications, tender preparation, tender assessment, negotiation, placement, variation management, claim management and contractor performance monitoring.
  • Accountable for contract performance, coordination and management of all supplier and contractor activity in accordance with the targets set for safety, quality, delivery (time) and cost. This includes contracts for all standard servicing and adhoc work like main component replacements or unplanned events.
  • Encourage and support the development of partnerships with contractors to integrate them into EDF Renewables systems and processes and joint ownership of works.
  • Develop, Own & Ensure compliance with the company's Acquire Goods and Services Process (AGS), plus any other legislation, rules and procedures which may apply.
  • Lead Supplier Development & the development of a Strategic supply chain plan to ensure that supply partners are managed according to the criticality and value to the business.
  • Provide an efficient and timely inventory & spares management system to ensure that demand is met for servicing & main component replacement campaigns.
  • Identify, understand, and manage commercial risks and, when appropriate, to seek support from other EDF entities, if necessary, to minimise the companies risk exposure.

What do you need to be great at this role?_**You will hold a degree and/ or equivalent professional qualification with a strong knowledge of contract law, commercial experience.

Substantial experience of the renewable industry a clear advantage,

  • Expert knowledge of the principles of Supply Chain Management including Procurement, Contract Management, Inventory and Materials Management and Procurement Engineering.
  • Possesses a strong and ambitious result focus reinforced by relevant commercial skills and knowledge required to deliver value to the Business. Proven ability to conduct successful commercial negotiations with suppliers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of internal business and external marketplace.
  • Proven record of achievement in delivering major change in processes & systems or working practice within Supply Chain Management.
  • Possesses knowledge of health and safety requirements, including relevant legislation and understands their applicability for safe working for self, staff and contractors / suppliers.
  • Exceptional leadership, operational and management skills
  • Able to work effectively in Microsoft software programs, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)/ Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Must be a team player and able to demonstrate experience successfully dealing with peers, management, cross functional groups, project stakeholders and unaffiliated third parties.
  • Fast learner who is able to gain a quick understanding of operability and performance expectations of renewable energy technologies.
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • MCIPS or equivalent an advantage
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with proven experience in making decisions in the best interest of the shareholders.
  • Ability to identify and manage risk and prioritise without losing sight of strategic plans and priorities.
