Case worker - Women's refuge

Permanent full time

Mobile based - Monday - Friday with on call

£21,000 - £23,000
We are working alongside a fantastic women's refuge organisation who are recruiting for Support workers.

The company is a women's equality organisation which exists to eradicate violence against women and girls and to support survivors.

They recognise that ending violence and abuse takes a whole society approach to social change, and it needs you to help them achieve this

This is a full-time role working 35 hours a week plus on-call, with the expectation to work flexibly between 00:00hrs - 23:59hrs Monday-Sunday.

The on-call service is delivered 24hrs a day and is staffed by IPA's on a rota basis. Additional generous financial increments are paid to those participating in the on-call service.


About you

  • You will have a good understanding of domestic violence/ abuse
  • You'll have theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies
  • An understanding of child protection issues
  • You will have a good understanding and experience in risk assessment
  • You'll be experienced in working with vulnerable people
  • Experience in managing case loads
  • You will have excellent communication skills
  • You'll hold a safe lives IDVA training certificate or a relevant degree or occupational experience
  • Have strong crisis management skills
  • You will be naturally compassionate and empathetic
  • You'll work well on your own initiative
  • Have a strong resilience
  • You will always act with integrity and respect
  • You'll be able to work flexibly as part of the team
  • Have an optimistic personality
  • You will have a full and clean UK's drivers licence

The role

  • You will identify the risks and needs of the service user
  • You'll prioritise case loads
  • Working with a diverse risk and need to ensure all women and children, whenever possible are supported through their journey with consistency
  • You will deliver specialist support services to women and children who are accessing accommodation services
  • You'll support, signpost and refer women and children to the services they wish to engage with
  • Support the empowerment of the client
  • You will understand the multiagency partnership structures and work within a multiagency setting
  • You'll ensure accurate and timely records are maintained.
  • Supporting women and children to have a voice within the organisation and the sector
  • You will support women to maintain licence agreement and help them prepare for moving onto independent living.
