The Company


First Step Sports Group is a leading physical activity & training provider, collaborating with schools, local authorities, community groups, businesses, and individuals across the North of England.


Based in Yorkshire, with an expanding network of experienced team members located across the region, the business is comprised of several divisions, each specialising in a different area of physical activity development and delivery: First Step Physical Education, First Step Training, First Step Cycle, Ballers, Active Care and Kids Takeover.


The Position


We are seeking Sports Coaches to work in one of our out of school settings, you will teach a variety of sports in the afterschool clubs ad assist during the morning club.


This role requires an individual who is confident, knowledgeable, and versatile with the ability to engage young people and you will ideally have experience of working with Primary School children aged 4-11 years.


You will be friendly and approachable and will be able to work creatively to develop a stimulating and exciting environment.


  • This role will increase to approximately 35 hours from September 2024 (Working Monday to Friday: 7:00am 9:00am and Monday
  • Thursday 1:00pm 6:00pm)
- £ £13.50 per hour DOE

  • Approx 24 hours per week term time with an option to work on our KTO holiday camps during the school holidays.

Responsibilities:


  • Deliver a variety of Sports to primary school aged pupil
  • Be assertive and respected by pupils
  • Lesson administration
  • Developing adapting schemes of work
  • Provide an exciting learning experience
  • Be versatile and committed to delivery fun and active sessions
  • Be reliable and flexible
  • Demonstrate professionalism to clients
  • Travel to various locations and settings in the Yorkshire region
  • Assist in the promotion of other First Step Sports brands

Knowledge and Experience Requirements

  • Level 1 coaching badge or equivalent
  • Level 2 Coaching Qualification
  • Required or equivalent
  • 1 years teaching experience
  • Experience creating and following lesson plans
  • An interest in delivering other areas of the PE Curriculum (Gymnastics, Games, OAA, Athletics)
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Risk Assessment experience
  • Experience working with a variety of ages
  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • First Aid and Child Protection Training
  • Desirable
  • Committed to continuous professional development
  • Please note: Driving License and your own transport are essential for this position
