Construction Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer.

Our client is an electrical engineering design & build contractor and ICP specialising in high voltage power transmission & distribution projects.

Their industry sectors include utilities, renewable energy, rail and private networks.

They offer engineering services across the full project life-cycle, from feasibility studies and design through to installation, commissioning and asset management.

The Senior Design Engineer will support the full lifecycle from leading engagement with new and existing clients and supporting winning of new works, to design delivery and handover at practical completion with a target of safe by design.

It will be important to ensure work is completed to time, to required quality standard and within budget. You will also be key in promoting business development within the design team.

Locations are mostly homebased but requirement to commute to office in either Glasgow or Stockport 1-2 days per week if required.

Actively support the Principal Design Engineer [ Electrical ] in the estimating, tendering and planning of new projects;

• Produce conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation and validation evidence for electrical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements;
• Coordinate the production and maintenance of electrical drawings;
• Use Computer-Aided Design (" CAD ") software to deliver panel layouts, circuit diagrams, Single Line Diagrams & Bill off Materials (" BoM ");
• Contribute to construction configuration baselines;
• Deliver high-quality technical reports and presentations;
• Prepare work schedules and allocate resources, as well as supervising junior engineers and sub-contractors;
• Provide engineering support to HV projects in order to deliver exceptional engineering solutions for our customers and optimise efficient project delivery for the business;
• Ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met.

Have experience working in, or with, industry, preferably in a multi-disciplinary design, development and production environment, creating bespoke solutions, using both digital and analogue technologies;

• Experience of design engineering on projects in the renewable energy and/or wider transmission & distribution sectors and associated knowledge and expertise in technical standards and engineering solutions;
• Ability to support in the quotation of new works using estimating software;
• Experience leading project H&S processes and production of associated documentation, including hazard identification, designers risk assessment and method statements;
• Thorough understanding of both LV and HV design work within a contracting environment;
• Outstanding self-reliance, resourcefulness and initiative, flexible approach and excellent time management.
