What are we looking for
Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Physician Associate to join our Team.


The Physician Associate in collaboration with consultants will provide direct patient care within a specialist surgical hospital, and support the Director of Advanced Practice in delivering key performance targets.


The role will be responsible for the delivery of care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, including the delivery of acute care services.

Responsible for completing histories and examinations on adult patients to establish and record patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries.


The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the decision making process, while driving the delivery of high quality and innovative practice consistent with regulatory and professional requirements.

Acting as a visible credible role model, the PA will create a patient-centred environment recognised for its compassion, evidence based practice and superior service.

The post holder will build and maintain excellent working relationships with other departments to ensure a seamless service. The PA will ensure the delivery of care is aligned to the Cleveland Clinic London mission and values.


Role information
Shifts are 10 hours in length, starting either at 07:30/08:00 and finishing at 17:30/18:00

As per the rota and service requirements, the post holder would be expected to work either 3 or 4 shifts per week

Weekend work is occasionally required, perhaps one weekend in every 8, and there will be a requirement to work night shifts in due course


The maximum salary on offer for this opportunity would be £55,000, and would be dependent upon experience and competencies against the role requirements.


What will your duties include

  • Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, imaging tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data on new and former clinic patients and hospital admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Must be able to work with collaborating physician.
  • Performs and interprets, at least to the point of recognizing deviations from normal, common laboratory, imaging, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as privileged by CCL Credentialing Committee. Performs routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, assisting in the management of more complex illness and injury which may include assisting surgeons in conducting operations and taking initiative in performing evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to lifethreatening situations, as privileged by CCL Credentialing Committee.
  • Collaborates with Consultants to monitor medications
  • Performs specialized procedures, such as biopsies, blood draws, designated IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis and paracentesis as well as other specific procedures as directed by the consultant, following approval by CCL Credentialing Committee.

What we need from you

  • Bachelor Degree in Life Science/Biomedical/Nursing or Allied Health Science required.
  • Master Degree in Physician Associate Studies (formally Physician Assistant) from an accredited university required.
  • Significant experience working as a physician associate in a hospital setting required.
  • Member of Faculty of Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR) required.
  • Valid National certificate and recertification every six years as stipulated by PAMVR required.
  • Depth of experience required within at least one, but preferably multiple of the following surgical specialisms: Neuro and Spine; Digestive Disease; Heart, Vascular, and Thoracic; or Orthopaedics surgical populations.
