Main duties of the job:

In therapy services we recognise the importance of therapy assistants and how important they are to the functioning of the team and to the wellbeing of our patients.

As part of our workforce redesign we are recruiting more therapy assistants than ever before. The therapy team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dietitians in our inpatient teams.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our Health Services for Elderly Team who has experience of working with people with health needs.

Our therapy assistants work in Inpatient multi-disciplinary teams across the hospital such as:

Health Services for Elderly People, Orthopaedics, Respiratory and Cardiology, Acute and community neurosciences, Amputees and vascular patients.

Education & Professional Qualifications:

Essential criteria:

Maths and English to GCSE level or equivalent
Higher education qualification (eg NVQ)
Evidence of education or training relevant to therapies, e.g. Inservice training or relevant courses

Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values

Experience:

Essential criteria:

Recent experience as a Therapy assistant/ rehabilitation assistant or other equivalent enabling role, including relevant undergraduate studies
Experience within an acute hospital/ healthcare environment
Experience of working with at least one of the following:PhysiotherapyOccupational TherapySpeech and Language TherapyPodiatryDietetics
Experience of using aids and adaptations
Experience of ordering and delivering aids and adaptations

Desirable criteria:

Experience of supervising/teaching individuals

Skills and Aptitudes:

Essential criteria:

Demonstrates ability to work well within a team
Ability to demonstrate understanding of relevant health conditions and the impact of these on an individual's health and functioning
An understanding of the impact of disability and issues related to promoting independence
Knowledge of Health, safety and risk awareness

Able to work flexibly
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in writing
