As they continue to expand their operations, they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic team in Northamptonshire, UK.

    They are looking for a talented Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced power electronics systems for electric vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of power electronics projects, from concept to production, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the design and development of power electronics systems for electric vehicle applications, including inverters, converters, chargers, and battery management systems.
    • Conduct detailed analysis, simulation, and testing of power electronics circuits and components to optimize performance, efficiency, and reliability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, and system integration specialists, to ensure seamless integration of power electronics into overall vehicle systems.
    • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in power electronics design and development processes, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the team.
    • Liaise with suppliers and external partners to source components, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
    • Support the validation and certification of power electronics systems, working closely with regulatory agencies and certification bodies as required.
    • Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including specifications, design reports, and test plans.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
    • Proven track record of at least 5 years in the design and development of power electronics systems, preferably within the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
    • Expertise in power electronics circuit design, analysis, and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, LTspice).
    • Strong knowledge of semiconductor devices, including MOSFETs, IGBTs, and SiC/GaN devices, and their application in power electronics.
    • Hands-on experience with power electronics hardware prototyping, testing, and validation, including familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and thermal chambers.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and experience with embedded systems development is desirable.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-oriented approach to engineering challenges.
    • Familiarity with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO and regulatory requirements (e.g., EMC, EMI) is a plus.
    • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
