    This is a permanent post to and offers an opportunity for aspiringleaders to develop their skills within a high performing Breast Unit.

    As the Programme Manager / Modality Lead for Breast Imaging, youwill work with the Professional Lead Radiographer to provide operationalsupport for the delivery of Breast Imaging services on the Barnsley Hospitalsite and at the new flagship Community Diagnostic Centre which is situatedwithin The Glassworks retail complex in the heart of Barnsley. You will supportthe Director of Breast with delivery of the Barnsley Breast Screening Service.

    Services on siteinclude Plain Film (including theatre, mobiles and dental), CT, MRI, BreastImaging (both screening and symptomatic), Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine andFluoroscopy (including cardiac angiography). All services are supported by aModality Lead with whom the post holder will liaise to ensure effective servicedelivery in line with local and national KPIs.

    Services at theCDC include Plain Film, DEXA, Ultrasound, Breast Screening and Phlebotomy. Phase2 will include CT and MRI alongside other non-imaging services. With furtherexpansion over 3 years, there is an opportunity to link in with regionalcolleagues to deliver a system wide approach to the delivery of Imagingservices and this is an exciting time to join our team.

    Main duties of the job

    In conjunction with the Professional Lead Radiographer, ConsultantMammographer and Consultant Radiologists, the Programme Manager / Modality Leadwill be responsible for the clinical delivery of the Breast Imaging serviceincluding the deployment of staff, coordination and supervision of the clinicaland technical aspects of the service, ensuring that the service delivers safe,effective and efficient care to patients within the allocated and agreedresources. This will include the maintenance of standards in line with theQuality Assurance Reference Centre (QARC).

    As Programme Manager the post holder will work closely with theDirector of Breast to ensure that all responsibilities are met as requiredby the National / regional Quality Assurance Centre and Targets achieved, bothfor the Screening & Symptomatic Breast Imaging Service

    As Modality Lead the post holder will provide compassionate leadershipat all times alongside and in the absence of the Professional Lead Radiographer,will operate on the basis of delegated authority in any given scenario. Theywill work across professional boundaries in order to have a continuous focus ona safety culture, maintaining a culture which fosters staff involvement and aprogressive attitude to work that is driven by patient-centred care.

    There is a requirement to take part in the extendedworking weekend/days as and when required

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • DCR(R) or BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Post graduate qualification, or HDCR, or equivalent (and demonstrable) experience.
  • High level of clinical competency in radiography.
  • Participation in CPD, both as reviewer and interviewee.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Desirable

  • Management qualification or equivalent and demonstrable experience
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of NHS/Breast screening programme
  • Extensive clinical experience, in radiography, including experience of working at Band 7 level within the NHS.
  • Significant leadership.
  • Previous experience of implementation and management of Health & Safety requirements.
  • Experience of clinical audit and statistical analysis
  • Desirable

  • Audit experience

  • Knowledge and Awareness

    Essential

  • To have developed an extensive knowledge of the NHS Breast Screening Programme
