    Working within our programme delivery team, you will work closely with colleagues and residents to lead strategic change projects that deliver real change for Newham. You'll be joining at a critical time for Newham, gaining the opportunity to shape how the organisation approaches change; helping us to work in a more agile and people focussed way.

    The team is focussed on building an innovative and cutting-edge services; working collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams which include our service design, policy and digital teams.

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager, who will lead exciting, complex programmes of transformation and change across the organisation.

    This role takes responsibility for directly managing projects within the delivery function, working closely with service teams; and overseeing the work of Project Managers. Our projects are centred on delivering better outcomes to Newham's residents and working to ensure the financial sustainability of the council through increasing income and delivering savings.

    We are keen to hear from candidates with experience of programmes within complex service areas, although previous experience in local government is not a necessary requirement. The role requires a good working understanding of programed and project methodologies and experience of delivering projects from initiation to completion.

    About You

    With a key focus on programme and project management, you will have a proven track record in leading major change programmes that transform how organisations work in accordance with best-practice methodologies.

  • Experienced in influencing senior stakeholders
  • Experienced in managing Project Managers or Project Support Officers
  • Experienced in using both agile and Prince2 methodologies
  • Interested in service design approaches that put people at the heart of how we design create and redesign services.
  • Experienced in delivering projects within complex organisations
  • Able to work with senior stakeholders
  • Quick to digest and understand complex information
  • Focussed on delivering real outcomes to Newham's residents
  • Keen to listen to and understand diverse voices and perspectives
  • You will also have proven experience in delivering the positive impact of change initiatives, being able to evidence the benefits of projects either in a public or private sector environment.
