    Who we are:
    Plexaa is a VC-backed, mission driven, and patient focussed medical device company.
    Our ambitious mission is to revolutionise preparation for surgery, through supraphysiological preconditioningTM. This process reduces wound-healing complications, improves outcomes, and empowers patients to take charge of their surgical journey.

    We're growing our team to accelerate the development of our first product, BLOOM43, which will bring these benefits to patients undergoing mastectomy and other breast surgeries.


    Who you are:
    You are a Design Engineer with a passion for solving problems.

    You are mechanically inclined with an eye for elegant, usable products and are excited by the idea of working in a company revolutionising surgical preparation.

    You have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team with electronics, software, and quality engineers, and understand how to integrate your mechanical designs within an overall product context.

    You can understand the needs and challenges of the cross-functional teams that must successfully collaborate to create new products. You are organised and thoughtful, and can form a clear path when complex decisions need to be made. You can identify your audience and adapt.

    Ideally, you have experience bringing medical or consumer electronic devices to market within an established design process, with first-hand experience of turning part designs into reality through common manufacturing processes.

    What you will do:

    • Collaborate with the team to develop reliable products with real world impact.
    • Own all stages of the design process from project scoping, concept design and proof of principle rigs through to detailed design, engineering builds and transfer to mass production.
    • Apply your knowledge of prototyping, production technology, materials and finishes to challenge constraints and push boundaries of current designs.
    • Create CAD models and assemblies, engineering drawings & tolerance analysis.
    • Develop testing methods and write technical test documentation to ensure your designs meet the specifications throughout development and into mass production
    • Create and own design control documentation
    • Build/maintain relationships with suppliers
    • Track budgets & report
    • Split time between investigating new technology, developing new products and supporting current product lines.
    • The role will report to our Lead Design Engineer.

    Your background:

    • Degree in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar. 3+ years of industry experience.
    • Strong skillset using 3D CAD (SolidWorks experience preferred).
    • Proven ability to manage multilevel assemblies.
    • Experience of rapid prototyping and manual workshop prototyping.
    • Experience of manufacturing or a willingness to learn (some international travel will be required).
    • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with different stakeholders.
    • You are a selfstarter with great visual and verbal communication skills.
    • You are able to work in our London office in Somerset House – hybrid work can be considered.
