We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Staff Nurse to join the progressive and dedicated Day Surgery Services team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, based in the Sandbourne suite at the Bournemouth site on a 6 month secondment.
The Sandbourne Suite incorporates an Admission Suite and Day Surgery services.
The service is currently open Monday to Friday 07:00-21:00.The successful candidate will be responsible for admitting and preparing patients for theatre ensuring that local policy is adhered to, caring for patients post-operatively and discharging patients under the nurse led discharge criteria.
Once in post, they will be a key stakeholder in the development and expansion of the Day Surgery Service with the ultimate aim of enhancing the patient's experience.
The successful candidate will require significant experience within general surgical/orthopaedic nursing have excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining and developing high standards.
Previous experience in a Day Surgery setting is not essential as there is an opportunity for further training in this field, although a surgical background is preferred.
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
There is a planned move for this service during 2025, when this role and base of work will relocate to Poolesite.
Upon relocation of the role/service, excess mileage allowance / reimbursement will not apply, and any travel between the post holder's home and work base will be classified as a commute.
