SER are working with a new provision that has recently opened and is looking for Outreach Tutors in Gillingham.

The provision has 3 sites based in Gillingham, Teynham and Sittingbourne and caters for students across KS3-KS4 who have an EHCP of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)


Your role as a Tutor will be to work at the provision as well as designated learning centres across Kent.

(Travel expenses will be paid)

To provide students, who attend the school, outreach provision with a fulfilling learning experience. To create a nurturing and caring atmosphere and environment for our students to feel safe and encouraged to learn.

As an experienced Tutor with a backgroundin encouraging and empowering students, you will assist students to act in respect of achieving social independence, personal, social, and educational development by addressing each individuals needs and to assist them to overcome barriers to learning, bothinside and outside the classroom, to achieve their full potential.


Key Accountabilities:


  • To have the ability to work with students with varying needs including SEN, SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and to work with ability and patience.
  • Good knowledge of the National Curriculum with the ability to differentiate for each individual student.
  • To create and implement an action plan for each child who needs support.
  • Ability to keep records, plan your own workload, and prioritise effectively.
  • To plan and deliver a wide range of extracurricular activities which promote learning, good behaviour, better social skills, and wellbeing
  • To assist where and when necessary, with the transition of students to mainstream school or college.
  • To participate, with other staff, in the comprehensive assessment of children and young people to identify and address barriers to learning.
  • To work closely with the Head of School to ensure that the needs of children with special education needs are met.
  • To ensure that all paperwork is set out and ready to collect on collection days
  • Ensure that all written reports & safeguarding issues are reported on the day of the allegation
  • Follow the procedures outlined in the outreach folder.
  • To provide regular written reports on your work as directed by the Head of School.
  • To comply with all relevant legislation and school policies and procedures.
  • To work from the school site, or in various places frequented by the public or in the young person's home.
  • Undertake additional duties as part of the school team and assume other duties which may reasonably be required or delegated by the Head of School, from time to time.
You will be paid a daily rate of £90 - £110 dependant on experience/qualifications.
