Description

The role of the Senior Estimator is to prepare and manage an accurate cost estimate to the required timescales for Senior Management review and submission to the client.

The Senior Estimator will be capable of working independently with low levels of supervision.


Key accountabilities:


  • Ensuring a thorough overall understanding of the requirements and contents of the tender documents
  • Preparation of an accurate competitive priced estimate in time for review by Senior Management
  • Preparation of submission to the client.
  • Scoping out tender enquiries for suppliers and subcontractors and analysis of supply chain tender returns.
  • Ensuring that the priced estimate contains due allowances for programme constraints, contractual conditions, risk and opportunity and working methods.
  • Reconciling resource allocations between the estimate and the resourced programme.
  • Identification and quantification of risk and opportunity
  • Managing the work and input of other personnel and parties that may be part of the bid team including:
  • Planners for preparation of resourced programmes
- operational staff for methodologies and resourcing
- partner companies and the supply chain
- commercial staff for Terms and Conditions and risk/opportunity identification
- administration staff
- procurement input into tender enquiries
- tender enquiries personnel

  • Organising, leading and contributing to meetings including
  • Pretender appraisal meeting
  • Bid strategy meetings
  • Finalisation meetings
  • Other meetings as needed for the bid preparation
  • The Senior Estimator will work collaboratively and cooperatively with other individuals and departments as part of his/her duties including:
  • Commercial department
  • Operations
  • Proposals team
  • Procurement
  • HSE & Q
  • Business Development budget preparation and providing advice
