THERAPY SERVICES
Limited Rotation within Upper limb and Rheumatology Occupational Therapy out-patient services

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and skilled occupational therapist to join the Musculoskeletal Occupational Therapy Upper Limb and Rheumatology Out-patient Teams on a limited rotation, at Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The rotations are within a specialist Upper Limb and Rheumatology team.

The focus is on the restoration of function post orthopaedic trauma, elective hand surgery and facilitation of successful adaptation when living with a long-term rheumatic condition or upper limb condition.

In return there is a structured supervision and appraisal process as well as a strong commitment to continued learning and staff well-being.

We are proud to be an integral part of the wider MDT and work closely with consultant teams, physiotherapists and specialist nurses.

Competency in splint fabrication, as well as skills in the assessment and management of hand/rheumatic conditions, is essential for this post.

Clinical support and supervision will be available from experienced senior clinicians.

We wish to recruit an experienced clinician who has a clear understanding of the developing role of Occupational Therapy within Upper Limb and Rheumatology Out-patient services and the ability to support leadership of a team which delivers innovative, responsive services to meet both the needs of patients and the organisation.

The post holder will have clinical experience working with adults with Upper Limb and Rheumatology presentations.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the wider team as well as with other external agencies.

You will be required to participate or lead on service review in order to identify service development needs and support the band 7 in delivering this while meeting clinical service demands

A training post would be considered for this position.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

It's an exciting time to join the therapy team following the Trust merger in 2019, and as such we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic occupational therapist with experience in upper limb orthopaedics and/or rheumatology.

The post holder should be prepared to work flexibly across Aintree Hospital and The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospital sites.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.
