Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent, site based, Highways Maintenance Operative to join our M8 team in Glasgow.
The salary is
£ **Our M8 account is to support Transport Scotland to maintain and improve the motorways and trunks across the Southwest of Scotland.
Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in undertaking installation of temporary traffic management, and all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils' works, and litter picking.

You will be responsible for:
- Maintain high technical standards
- Attend project and work briefings as required
- Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance, (e.g. oil and water checks) and cleaning
- Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civil's works, litter picking
- Winter maintenance operations and emergency call out and standby
- Take responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect member of the public.
- Carry out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly filling in defect books
- Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system
- To keep records, complete all necessary paperwork, communicate and liaise with other employees of Amey, subcontractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients and customers
We want to hear from you if you have:
- LGV Class 2 Licence
- Problem solving skills
- CPC
- Selfmotivated and proactive in terms of delivering solutions
- Good communication skills
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have trade experience to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
