    Role: Junior Software Development Engineer in Test

    Location: Remote with travel to our office in Middlewich when required and during the training period

    Salary: £24,000 - £28,000

Working in partnership with commissioning organisations, NHS Trusts and General Practices, we help them to care for patients with long-term conditions. We also provide Child Health services for several areas across the country, monitoring the child's care pathway and ensuring they are receiving their scheduled immunisations and examinations correctly.

    As a Junior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) you will work equally and effectively in both development and testing roles. The SDET's responsibilities include both software development and testing tasks and focuses on the testability, robustness, and performance of production software. As such, an SDET is a test professional with programming skills who can create automation testing tools and frameworks to assist the manual testing process.

    What you will be responsible for:

    • Understanding the flow of code and how it interacts with different components.
    • Supporting senior members with reviewing project documents, customer demands, and product objectives to create and execute test cases.
    • Creating, maintaining, and performing test automation using developmental best practices.
    • Investigating customer problems referred to you by the technical support team, creating and maintaining bug reports as well as retesting fixed issues.
    • Performing manual testing for both web and desktop applications.
    • Providing inputs on the testability of functional elements and product designs.

    You will:

    • Help to ensure that high quality is maintained across the design and execution of test cases by being uncompromising on quality.
    • Be able to work both collaboratively to solve an array of challenging problems.
    • Have knowledge of testing processes and standards.
    • Understand the principles of BDD and be able to write basic scenarios using Gherkin syntax.

    You will have:

    • A minimum of two years' experience in a software testing role or have achieved a degree with a classification of at least 2:1 in a software engineering discipline.
    • Knowledge of test methodologies.
    • An understanding of test automation tools and how they can be used.
