Design Engineer - Interior / Exterior Trim

We are working with a world class organisation who design, develop and manufacture niche vehicle globally seeking an experienced
Design Engineer - Interior / Exterior Trim for a long term contract, supporting five new vehicle platforms.


As a
Design Engineer - Interior / Exterior Trim you have experience of designing interior and exterior trim within plastics using Catia from initial concept through to product launch.

As a
Design Engineer - Interior / Exterior Trim you will be responsible for:

  • CAD operation skills
  • Expectation for engineer to be able to create and manipulate geometry for primary communication of concepts / schemes within automotive interior and/or exterior trim
  • Catia v5 operative skills, to be able to demonstrate high technical competence
  • Generation of 3D geometry & sectional data
(Key module utilisation:

Part design & Geometric Surface design)

  • Experience of using TCUA (Team Centre)
  • Engineering experience in delivery of the designated module systems
  • Evidence of engineering skills, including ability to manage & resolve engineering issues
  • Understands roles & needs of different client groups. Evidence of working effectively with crossfunctional teams to achieve results
As a
Design Engineer - Interior / Exterior Trim you will have knowledge and experience in:

  • Delivering design solutions for interior and/or exterior trim in moulded plastics using Catia.
  • Engineering BoM development
  • DFMEA & DVP creation & maintenance
  • Develop scopeofwork documents with key deliverables identified
  • Support the module deliverables through to the programme required gateway
  • Benchmarking of competitor vehicles & reporting of findings
  • Interface with cross functional teams (Package, Analysis, Manufacturing, DVA etc) &
- implement recommendations where appropriate to create a right first time release

  • Leading the development of the 3D and 2D models for interior / exterior trim engineering.
