DWC Procurement £35k - 45k per year Aston, West Midlands, England Permanent Office Based SF Recruitment are working with a leading manufacturer to recruit a buyer.
A key role responsible for all direct purchasing requirements within the business.The business has been a mainstay within its industry for a number of years & has a solid order book & customer base.
Fantastic company culture with a high staff retention rate. Key Responsibilities- Purchasing of raw materials in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
- The continuity of supply aspect is managed by the Material Controller working closely and in conjunction with the buyer.
- Negotiate and maintain cost effective prices with current supply base and investigate new potential suppliers and cost reduction opportunities.
- Monitor main commodity price trends, the relevant commodity groups; Metals, resisns, paints e.
- Work in conjunction with the Purchasing Assistant to place purchase orders.
- Operating the company computer system, Integrated Manufacturing System, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and databases.
- Maintenance of supplier appraisal system.
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure they meet the required quality and delivery standards and daily problem solving.
- Supervising the Purchasing Assistant when required.
- Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
- Build and maintain good supplier relationships and good communication channels.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues and work in conjunction with purchase control/accounts
- Purchase to pay system management.
- Arranging transport for bought in goods, particularly overseas and ensuring all import paperwork is correct.
- Work on new business opportunities in conjunction with engineering and assist in collating estimated costs with the commercial department.
- Comply with health and safety and environmental policies, company policies generally and legal requirements.
- Contributing to internal and external audits.
- Sourcing new suppliers and ensuring they are suitable to the organization.
- Negotiation, skills and maintaining good supplier relations
- IT skills
- MRP, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and databases.
- Able to manage time effectively and be able to cope calmly with day to day issues.
- Able to work well under pressure and react quickly to changing customer demands
- Driving licence
- Fast paced manufacturing background ideally suited.
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand manufacturing processes.
