    The role

    As a Payroll Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services.

    In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the payroll processes, ensuring consistency and accuracy in payroll for MEH's weekly paid workforce.

  • Create and maintain the MEH Payroll manual
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders internal to MEH, within the delivery partners, trade unions and client representives
  • Develop a service level agreement (SLA) with key performance indicators (KPIs) for response times and other metrics
  • Design a suite of automated reports from Kronos, to support proactive management of timekeeping issues
  • Provide metrics and dashboards to support the Head of HR, demonstrating the effectiveness of the MEH Payroll team and systems
  • Offer guidance and information on payroll-related industrial relations (IR) matters, as required
  • This is a full-time permanent role (37 hours per week) and will be based at Hinkley Point C near Bridgwater. Option for hybrid and/or nine-day fortnight work arrangement after an initial period

    Essential experience of the Payroll Manager

  • Proven track record as a Payroll Manager
  • Experience working in unionised environments and interacting with trade unions
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and data analysis
  • Experience with Kronos payroll software (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience in engineering construction or with national agreements like NAECI and JIB (desirable)
  • Qualifications for the Payroll Manager

    Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) or equivalent experience, which will be combined with a competency-based assessment at interview stage.
