Job summary
Tosupport the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery ofclinical and administrative services, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinaryteam, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patientpopulation.
The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assistclinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, healthpromotion and patient education whilst also supporting the administrative teamon an as-required basis.
Main duties of the job
a.Undertakenew patient health checks
b.Supportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmes
c.Carryout baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperatureand pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d.Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e.Undertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
f.Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
g.Carryout BMI checks as directed
h.Actas a chaperone as required
i.Whentrained, undertake venepuncture
j.Whentrained, administer flu vaccinations
k.Carryout ECGs as requested
l.Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
m.Providesupport during minor operations as required
n.Ensureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
o.Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
p.Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the organisations IPC policy
q.Deliveropportunistic health promotion where appropriate
