    CME Group is the world's leading and most diverse derivatives exchange. The role will be part of the CME Global Data Science department. The team is responsible for data science, machine learning, analytics, generating insights, and developing data products and tools. The team brings diverse skill sets together (AI, machine learning, statistics, derivatives expertise, ingenuity, coding and technical skills) in a highly collaborative, collegial manner. The team is one of the key thought leadership groups at the Exchange and serves business leadership to identify and promote significant market and client opportunities. Market Opportunities team in London working across EMEA and APAC region and using complex and advanced methods to solve challenging business issue. We are looking for a Post Graduate Student ready for an exciting new challenge to join the team in London.

    The Data Science Intern role will work across sales, marketing, product, client, and IT divisions to help drive the data utilization and building solution with various business units. In CME, we try new things, fail fast, and ultimately deliver valuable insight through the combination of collaboration, new technology, and machine learning. Analyse patterns and correlations among derivatives products and clients to identify trends customers can benefit from. Brainstorm, design, implement new machine learning and analytical models, and implement internal and external tools and applications. Expand usage of Data Science tools with staff and clients.     Requirements

    • Post Graduate Student in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics or similar; studying towards PhD would be a plus
    • Combination of technical/quantitative and business acumen is strongly preferred
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of statistics, probability and machine learning.
    • Strong programming skills in Python (Numpy, SciPy, Pandas, and scikit-learn), R, SQL
    • Experience of data preparation, cleaning, joining, manipulation, analysis in academia, industry, or personal projects
    • Familiarity with one of Business Intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, Qlikview, Looker, and PowerBI
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical people.
    • Exceptional teamwork skills required. Ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with business partners and stakeholders.
    • Natural curiosity to understand the world around you and question as needed.
    • Comfortable handling ambiguous concepts and breaking down complex problems into manageable pieces.
    • Ability to apply critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
    • Not be afraid of hard work, proposing new ideas, and doing things smarter.
    • Familiarity with CME Group markets, products, and clients

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity with google cloud platform or other cloud platforms(e.g. AWS or Microsoft Azure) is a plus
    • Experience analyzing unstructured data and text is plus
    • Scripting skills of any one of the major object-oriented programming language is a plus
    • Knowledge of Commodity and Financial Derivatives Markets, especially in futures and options would be a plus
