    Description
    Core Purpose

    As a Solutions Architect you will lead the design, scoping, estimating, and overseeing the delivery of multiple professional services projects. This role requires multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and working closely with leadership, project managers, and engineers to deliver high-standard projects on time and within budget.

    You will encounter a diverse range of projects across the Public Sector, Education, and Private Sector, such as:

    • Developing automated, data-driven exam environments
    • Creating virtual classrooms for global student access
    • Virtualizing university museum collections
    • Collecting stratospheric data for climate change measurement
    Responsibilities
    • Customer Engagement: Lead scoping and design calls, gather requirements, build project scopes, and provide delivery estimates.
    • Architectural Solutions: Transform customer problems into valuable architectural solutions.
    • Project Management: Oversee or lead project delivery, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeframe.
    • Team Support: Guide and mentor cloud engineers, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
    • Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Head of Technical Operations to improve processes, procedures, and automation.
    • Technical Escalation: Serve as the senior escalation point for technical issues.
    • Customer Relations: Maintain high standards in NPS scores and AWS relationships, driving business growth.
    • On-call Support: Participate in a 24/7 on-call escalation rota.
    Essential Skills
    • AWS Solutions: 2+ years of experience designing and building AWS solutions.
    • Customer Interaction: 2+ years of experience in project scoping and requirement gathering.
    • Project Quoting: Experience in estimating project delivery times.
    • Certification: AWS Solution Architecture Certification (Professional level).
    • Statements of Work: Experience in writing detailed Statements of Work.
    • Core AWS Services: 4+ years with services like Load Balancing, EC2, RDS, CloudFront, S3, and CloudWatch.
    • Legacy Modernization: 2+ years with containerization or microservices.
    • Serverless Solutions: 2+ years with AWS serverless solutions (API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, Eventbridge, Step Functions).
    • Deployment Best Practices: 2+ years in deploying releases across multiple environments.
    • Cloud Migration: Experience migrating customers from on-premises to the cloud.
    Desirable Skills
    • AWS Specialty Certification
    • Experience with AWS machine learning services (Sagemaker, Rekognition)
    • Knowledge of on-premise environments (hypervisors, storage, backup vendors)
    • Leadership skills
    • Scripting for automation (preferably in Python)
