    The Role:

    A rare chance to modernise one of London's most iconic buildings this global head of engineering and construction will provide an industry leading role to transform and decarbonize the building over the next five years making it fit for the Corporation of Lloyd's, Lloyd's Markets and it's tenants future.

    Publicizing Lloyd's achievements and demonstrating that existing commercial properties (even grade 1 listed properties) can compete with new buildings in the race for space and talent in post pandemic modern cities is a fundamental objective of the role. Additionally the role will partner with the global head of real estate to oversee the transformation of the global property estate across 30+ countries including fit outs in existing and new locations

    Principal Accountabilities:

  • Lead the Real Estate Engineering and Construction function globally.
  • Take ownership for the delivery of the real estate decarbonization and transformation programme to the interior of the Lloyd's building through effective and clear decision making and leadership.
  • Set out the long-term engineering asset management plan for the building, weaving decarbonization interventions into the building lifecycle.
  • Plan and execute the remodeling of the buildings mechanical and electrical infrastructure to reduce energy consumption in accordance with proposed legislation and lease obligations.
  • Additionally, co-ordinate, plan and execute interior fit outs and upgrades to the building and major repairs and maintenance projects, simultaneously.
  • Engage at the appropriate levels with other corporate real estate function leads and other departments such as Corporate Affairs, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Procurement and Technology to synchronize project delivery on time and within agreed budgets
  • Skills:

  • Excellent communication at all levels including senior executives, clients, peers across Lloyd's plus real estate and construction professionals coupled with excellent active listening. Able to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships on all levels of organisation and stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to integrate people, places and process as well as understanding project and programme management.
  • Leadership: able to lead and motivate teams to deliver exceptional outputs to meet the requirements. Identify and secure the necessary skills and resources to deliver.
  • Knowledge:

  • Understand and be able to articulate burgeoning legislation and global best practice in relation to net zero carbon in commercial properties, avoidance of stranded assets and whole life carbon.
  • Leading the decarbonization, engineering, construction, fitout and refurbishment of sophisticated commercial office buildings, particularly whilst occupied by critical business activities.
  • Managing the design and implementation of smart building technology to deliver meaningful information for the stakeholders
  • Experience:

  • Demonstration of decarbonization of older buildings.
  • Mobilization of teams who ideate, create a vision, design brief and execution plan.
  • Demonstrate a track record of delivering successful large-scale real estate engineering and construction transformation programmes.
  • Working both as a consultant/advisor to large corporate occupiers and as a CRE leader within occupier organisations
