The team/department

Are you a senior events professional with strategic events expertise, team management and leadership experience?

Events are one of our key communications channels at the FCA. We frequently join up with Communications colleagues to ensure alignment across our communications activities and channels.


What you will be doing:

  • You will be responsible for FCA events programme for external stakeholders, including core events such as Annual Public Meeting and flagship policies such as Consumer Duty
  • Set the strategic direction of events to align with Business Plan and Communications priorities, including leading the continual evolution of facetoface, virtual, and hybrid events
  • Provide strategic advice on how events can be best leveraged as a comms channel to achieve business objectives

The skills and experience you will have:

  • Oversee the evaluation, measurement, and reporting of the events programme to demonstrate value and impact
  • Responsible for Events budget, including forecasting and reconciliation
  • Lead procurement of event suppliers, and oversee supplier performance to ensure consistently high quality
  • Leadership and line management of Events colleagues (currently 5 direct reports)
  • Manage resourcing and capacity of team, ensuring adequate allocation and support for high-pressure periods and building in flexibility and contingency
  • Performance and development management of team to align with FCA values and capability framework
  • Recruitment and onboarding of new starters

Minimum:

  • Significant experience in a senior corporate event planning role with experience of advising and managing senior internal stakeholders
  • Experience in setting event strategy
  • Departmental budget responsibility
  • Leadership and team management
  • Working knowledge of Cvent
  • Experience of planning and delivering virtual and hybrid events
  • Familiarity with webinar production and virtual event technology
  • Knowledge of London and UK venues.

  • Excellent project management skills highly organised with the ability to make progress at a rapid pace, managing competing demands and meeting tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, think on their feet and problemsolve
  • Highly motivated and able to demonstrate high quality and timely deliverables
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across organisation
  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage periods of high demand internally, and as the external events landscape continues to evolve
  • Excellent written and spoken skills

Desirable:

  • Comfortable with flexible working patterns to meet event requirements

  • The salary range in London is up to £72,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
  • The salary range in Edinburgh & Leeds is up to £66,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
