    How you'll make a difference

    Working with leaders across the Adult Community Learning and Skills team, you will make a difference by maximising the positive impact of the service on the lives of people and communities across South Gloucestershire.

    Your work will be at the heart of the service. You'll work across the team in community learning, adult skills and employability and develop systems and processes to improve our services.

    What will you be doing?

  • In this role, you will liaise closely with front line staff and teams within the council to ensure compliance with funding and statutory responsibilities.
  • It will be your responsibility to review and improve systems and processes to ensure funding requirements, reporting and claims are on time and accurate. In turn, maximising the available funding into the service and working closely with finance and audit officers.
  • By working closely with other organisations e.g. WECA, SGS, you will ensure we learn from best practice and continue to develop our service alongside other providers across South Gloucestershire.
  • Daily, you will oversee and line manage the work of others to collate, analyse and produce management information.
  • You will develop systems that ensure quality and compliance (e.g. with WECA, OFSTED and Matrix inspections) and track KPIs across the service including the quality of education. You will use these to compile summary reports for council officers and the Advisory Board.
  • By developing systems that draw together common aspects of the different work streams, you will plan for future projects and opportunities that develop and sustain the service.
  • You will support the development of grant applications and strategic plans.
  • What we need from you

  • We require you to be professionally qualified and hold a relevant degree or postgraduate qualification or hold equivalent relevant knowledge and experience of grant and funding conditions in the public sector.
  • It is essential for you to have recent knowledge and experience of managing effective systems and processes within a large organisation or team.
  • You will demonstrate being able to work independently and flexibly, demonstrating clear and innovative thinking in assessing challenges and problem solving.
  • To be successful in this role you will have experience of leading a team to ensure a positive and ambitious work environment for all members of the team and the wider service.
  • You must demonstrate successful project management skills and the ability within the wider context of a small team, to effectively deliver employability, progression and learning services.
  • It is essential that you can use a wide range of IT systems, MS Office products, Word and Excel.
