    Job summary

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist with an interest in Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy. This post is for a 15 month fixed term band 6 Physiotherapist to provide specialist in-patient physiotherapy management for children and young people with respiratory conditions including bronchiectasis, PCD, neuromuscular respiratory complications and LTV. As a HCPC registered health professional, you will have gained substantial clinical experience within respiratory providing comprehensive assessment and treatment to patients with complex presentations. Experience of working with children and young people is desirable. The physiotherapists work very closely within multidisciplinary teams, giving a holistic approach to care.

    You will provide support to junior members of staff, participate in training to students and support on service development. Cover to other respiratory areas (both for in-patients and respiratory out-patients) may be required for planned or unplanned absence.

    Main duties of the job

    You will provide education, advice and support to members of the MDT, patients and parents/carers and be able to respond to and resolve complaints professionally and effectively with excellent communication skills.

    With excellent organisational and problem-solving skills you will thrive in a busy environment prioritising a busy workload and coping well under pressure. There is comprehensive in-house appraisal system and multiple learning opportunities as the department is actively involved in audit and research. You will be supported by experienced clinical leads offering clinical and professional advice and feedback supporting your professional and personal development.

    The potential release from your current role for a secondment (if applicable) should be discussed with your line manager prior to submitting your will be expected to participate in the respiratory on-call and weekend rota. There is a response time of 45 minutes for on-calls.

    Person Specification

    Knowledge skills & experience

    Essential

  • Experience of respiratory on-call (overnight)
  • Broad postgraduate clinical experience in a rotational post in the NHS or equivalent, including in both a rehab and respiratory capacity
  • Extensive knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques (in relevant area), including examples of reasoning for choice
  • Experience of teaching/education of junior members of staff/students including to meet a range of learning styles
  • Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working, to include examples of personal involvement in complex MDT working
  • Aware of the principles of clinical governance and evidence-based practice, to include examples of complex clinical reasoning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, including examples of complex communication with a range of people - staff and patients/parents
  • Able to handle sensitive situations, including examples of difficult scenario's involved in
