    Job Title – Landscaper

    Location – Cobham Training Ground

    Hours – Permanent – 40 hours a week (Any 5 of 7)

    What We're Looking For:

    As a Landscaper, you'll play a vital role in a various range of Horticultural & Arbor cultural projects across the site in collaboration with the Head of Landscapes and the Director of Global playing surfaces and Landscaping. You'll be involved in maintaining and developing the various green spaces across the site. Your daily tasks will include general garden maintenance and upkeep of the site which will include planting, pruning, weeding, hedge cutting, watering and preserving the health and appearance of plants and shrubs.

    You'll have the opportunity to design and implement new garden layouts, selecting perfect combinations to create stunning visual garden displays. The ideal candidate will also have a background in Arboriculture and be able to carry out the following tasks by accessing trees with a rope and harness and carrying out a variety of works such as crown reductions, pollarding, removing dead wood and the dismantling of trees where needed, Additionally, you'll be responsible for monitoring plant health, pest control, and implementing sustainable gardening practices to support the local ecosystem. Your role will be integral to creating and maintaining a welcoming and vibrant outdoor environment for all who those who use and visit the training facility.

    Brief description and duties:

    • Making sure all key areas are presentable to a very high standard
    • Great knowledge of horticulture, including specialized and broader aspects
    • Plan, develop and maintain planting schemes and projects
    • Performing routine maintenance tasks related to estate maintenance, including identifying and addressing potential safety concerns
    • Use of chemical applications and maintenance of records (Preferably with PA1 & PA6 qualifications, but training provided if needed)
    • Pest and Disease Control: Monitor for common pests and diseases affecting plants, and implement preventive control measures using organic or chemical methods as appropriate.
    • Undertaking ground clearance and seasonal tasks
    • Carry out general maintenance tasks and upkeep of hard and soft surfaces in garden areas
    • Attending to the maintenance of beds, borders, and containers
    • Ideal candidates will hold the following Arboriculture qualifications, CS30,CS31 Chainsaw maintenance and felling of small trees, CS38 Tree climbing and aerial rescue, CS39 Use of chainsaws from rope and harness
    • Competent use of chainsaws and the Arboriculture industry and its best practices
    • Accessing trees using a rope and harness carrying out tasks such as pollarding, thinning, crown reductions and removal of deadwood
    • Comply with all Health and Safety regulations and requirements within the Company and your role.
    • Ensure that all equipment and machinery is properly maintained, secured and to report any faults or defects immediately.
    • To work and act in a professional manner and wearing the appropriate uniform/work wear that will be provided at all times.

    Key Skills/qualified by demonstrable experience to the level required:

    • Proven experience within the Horticulture, Landscape or Arboriculture industry holding the relevant qualifications.
    • Excellent knowledge of Horticulture & Arboriculture
    • Competent operation of all Landscape based machinery
    • Ability to work within a motivated team and also able take reasonability when lone working.
    • Demonstrable experience of working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures.
    • Passionate and willing to work outdoors and in all weathers.
    • Able to work in a professional and responsible manner.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and a friendly and outgoing personality.
    • A flexible approach to working hours, particularly weekends and bank holidays, is a must.
    • Proficiency in plant identification, pest and disease management.
    • Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance.
    • Ability to operate landscape machinery and equipment.
    • Familiarity with organic gardening practices and sustainability principles.

    Qualifications:

    Essential:

    • Relevant sector qualifications in Horticulture and or Arboriculture
    • Excellent knowledge of Horticulture and best practices

    Desirable:

    • RHS Level 2/3 Diploma in Horticulture, or equivalent.
    • Training and certification in Arboriculture and/or use of chainsaws and other machinery
    • Experience in Landscape design
