    Job summary

    We are looking to recruit an experienced Health Care assistant to join our forward thinking and pro cactive Nursing team.

    Our patients are at the heart of everyting we do with the whole team going above and beyond in delivering patient care to our 11700 patients.

    If patient care comes first to you then you are what we are looking for.

    Main duties of the job

    Working under thedirect supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance withspecific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant willassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribedprogrammes of patient care.

    About us

    You will be working alongside and supported by 5 Practice Nurses 3 Health Care assistants 11 GP`s 2 Advanced nurse practitioners and a paramedic.

    We are a very busy practice and get through each day by the whole team working together with a great sense of comradery.

    Job responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities:

    B12 Injections

    Blood pressure monitoring

    Blood pressure 24hr monitoring

    BM/obs

    Nebulising/Oxygen

    Urinalysis

    Baby Imms clinics

    Dressings

    Flu clinics

    INR monitoring

    New patient health checks

    ECG recording including Ambulatory ECG`s

    Phlebotomy

    Spirometry

    Chaperoning duties

    Processing and management of laboratory samplesrequested by GPs/nurses

    Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgicalequipment

    Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring andrecording

    Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking andstock rotation

    Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

    Preparing and maintaining environments andequipment before, during and after patient care interventions, includingassisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

    Assisting in the assessment and surveillance ofpatients health and well-being

    Undertaking specific clinical activities for namedpatients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to thatindividual

    Helping to raise awareness of health andwell-being and how it can be promoted

    Assisting with the collection and collation ofdata on needs related to health and well-being

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Experience of working in General Practice
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Desirable

  • Qualified to NVQ level 3
  • Experience

  • Experience of working within a nursing team
  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
  • Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care
