    About the role

    We are looking to recruit a Litigation Solicitor to join our contentious team on permanent and part-time basis, to provide comprehensive and legal advice to Chief Officers, Members and Client Service Areas of the Council.

    On a day-to -day basis, you will be supporting our Senior Lawyer in the contentious team to undertake work focused on litigation and contentious matters.

    You will have conduct of your own varied case load to include matters such as enforcement, environmental health, trading standards, animal health, planning and debt. In addition to dealing with some education and licensing cases.

    You will be called upon to prepare legal documentation, in preparation for acting as an advocate on behalf of the Council at Court, Tribunals and other venue, and/or sit on Panels/Sub Committees when needed.

    We are looking for an individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills and who has the ability to manage their own case load without supervision. As a candidate, you will have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work positively with a variety of people including our internal and external stakeholders. You will of course be able to remain calm and work under pressure and have the ability to prioritise your work in compliance with Court deadlines.

    As an advocate, you will not only provide legal advice to Service Areas, but also have good advocacy skills to represent the Council at various Hearings.
