    Description

    A small high street firm with strong family values and believe in a work-life balance is looking to recruit a Legal Secretary. Having grown considerably since being established nearly 8 years ago, they now have several offices across the country.

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Legal Secretary based in their Reading office, working in the Conveyancing Department. The Conveyancing team enjoys a high volume and variety of instructions from clients and businesses throughout England and Wales.

    No day is the same in their Conveyancing department and they are looking for someone who is proactive, strives to work in a fast-paced environment and is not afraid of being an integral part of the business.

    Ideally, you will have some experience working within a similar role. However, applicants who are enthusiastic about joining the legal profession and are keen to learn are also welcome to apply.

    The role will include, but is not limited to, the following duties:

    • Greeting clients and other visitors to their office
    • Opening and closing/archiving files
    • Reviewing instructions and title registers
    • Dealing and assisting with incoming and outgoing post
    • Assisting with arranging appointments
    • Scanning/filing post and documents
    • Carrying out ID verifications using electronic software
    • Assisting with file management and corresponding with clients and third parties
    • Assisting with Land Registry applications including first registrations
    • Preparing SDLT returns and submitting where appropriate
    • Assisting with basic revisions to documents
    • Dealing and assisting with progressing matters
    • Dealing and assisting with completions
    • Other general office duties as required including answering telephone calls and taking messages
    • Full training will be provided.

    You will need:

    The ability to work well within a team as well as independently. Being proactive and having a keen eye for detail are all important to the role. A willingness to learn, develop and be an integral member of the team are also essential qualities. You need to be confident communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of clients and businesses.
