About Ignite Hubs
Ignite Hubs is an education charity for children and young people aged 7 to 18 years old.
Our mission is to ignite the potential of young minds by widening their horizons and providing them with the skills, connections and experiences to access career-related learning opportunities and prepare them for the future workforce.
We currently teach coding and STEM.We aim to provide the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities.
We place a special emphasis on engaging underrepresented groups, including girls, children with special educational needs, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We teach nearly 200 students each week and have positively impacted more than 1,000 children and young people since we started.
Our educational offerings include four weekly virtual classes and five weekly in-person classes during term time at various libraries throughout Southwark, SE London.
Our long-term ambition is to offer nationwide classes, workshops and events to children and young people on a wide variety of subjects under our five educational Hubs: Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing.
Scratch, Python, Micro:
bit, Raspberry Pi etc. so students can work on projects that they are interested in.
The role involves travelling to at least one of our class locations per week, which are held at libraries. Mondays - Canada Water Library
Tuesdays - Walworth Library
Wednesdays - Peckham Library
Thursdays - Camberwell Library
Saturdays - Una Marson Library
All onsite classes start at 6:15pm to 7:15pm apart from at Una Marson Library, where it starts at 11am to 12pm, during term-time only.
Our terms are 8 weeks and there is a break in the middle of at least two weeks, longer for Easter and the Summer holidays.
You are required to be there around 10-15mins beforehand to help with set-up and stay on 15 to 20 mins after to help with pack-up and a quick debrief.
There may also be additional hours available to contribute to the curriculum development and content creation for the Online Learning Platform, which we are currently designing and building.
You will be reimbursed for reasonable travelling costs, and you will be paid £12 for travelling time of up to an hour each way.
