We are seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics.

This post forms part of the Lancashire teaching hospitals Overseas Registrar Development and Recruitment Program (ORDeR Program).

The post holder will be given the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of Paediatrics, with encouragement for personal and professional development over a 2 year plan.


Summary of clinical duties:


  • Attending to and managing acute Paediatric cases referred to Paediatric Assessment Unit.
  • Attending to Paediatric emergencies attending Emergency Department.
  • Managing Paediatric cases on the Paediatric wards.
  • Supervising junior doctors' work, reviewing patients they see and giving advice regarding their managements.
  • Conducting ward rounds, usually with the consultant, but sometimes on their own, on the Paediatric wards.
  • Provide advanced resuscitation to Paediatric cases when required, coordinating their work with Paediatric consultants, anaesthetists, ED doctors and with consultation with NWTS team.
  • Second on call duties out of hours for Paediatric emergencies.
  • Assisting the consultant in communication with parents.
  • Dealing, under the supervision of the consultant, with child protection issues.
  • Conducting outpatient clinics alongside the consultant Paediatrician.
  • Cover for unexpected short term sickness of a colleague.
