An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Communications and Public Engagement Officer, to promote the Institute's profile within the national and international research community and the wider public.

The postholder will manage the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (MRC WIMM's) communication channels to showcase the cutting-edge scientific work at the institute.

The postholder will also carry out all event management activities for a calendar of public engagement events, and line manage a newly created digital production officer role.


You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have significant relevant professional experience in a communications role, including an understanding of potential communication risks.

Experience of using website content management systems and developing and designing a website will be essential. Equally, strong organisational and project management skills and experience of initiating, managing and delivering projects effectively are required.

Experience of a communications role in a scientific setting and the use of digital communications to disseminate complex information to a lay audience would be a significant plus.
