Purpose of job role?
Project and programme scheduling forms an essential service within the PMO.

This role sits within the Integrated PMO (iPMO) function of the Major Projects Directorate, to provide overall scheduling activities for all projects and programmes within the directorate across a diverse portfolio.

Creating and owning multiple schedules across a variety of projects and programmes, this role will ensure the directorate has effective schedules in place, both at Level 1 and Level 2 to ensure effective delivery.

Holding project, senior project managers and Programme Managers to account against agreed schedules, offering support and assistance in remodelling/replanning schedules.

A core part of this role will be working closely with Industry Partners to ensure TPE schedules align with wider industry scheduling in an integrated programme plan for our core TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) programme.


About the Role?

  • To ensure accurate schedules are produced for each key project within the directorate, working with project, senior project managers and iPMO Programme Managers to provide realistic, detailed schedules that will deliver against TPE's agreed Business Plan Commitments.
  • Provide regular reporting to Major Projects Leadership team, Programme Boards and TransPennine
  • Route Upgrade (TRU) Joint PMO on progress against agreed schedules, highlighting areas of concern as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Working with the iPMO Programme Managers and iPMO Analyst to assess any schedule impact on delivery capability.
  • Build a suite of Level 2 (project) schedules with key stakeholders involved and align all Level 2 schedules into an overall directorate Level 1 (portfolio) schedule.
  • Provide necessary insight into all schedules to assist the Portfolio Planning Manager with holding project and programme owners to account within the directorate.
  • Working with Industry Partners to ensure alignment between Industry and TPE schedules, including but not limited to the TransPennine Route Upgrade programme. Map dependencies, highlight assumptions, and inform on risks and issues as appropriate.
  • Competence/familiar with project planning software such as MS Project and P6 Primavera, using the software to produce and manage all schedules, identifying and analysing critical paths.
  • Participate in initiatives to meet Transpennine Express' Business Plan Commitments and assist with other activities within the directorate as required.
