The role:


Supports the Chief Operations Officer (Aspen Re) by ensuring the effective oversight of the Inward Proportional Treaty management and processing controls, technical reconciliation and financial reporting requirements.

Key accountabilities:


Strategy And Planning

  • Awareness of the Aspen Re Financial Reporting and Underwriting Governance Framework and how it is supported by Reinsurance Operations
  • Understanding of how Aspen Re operates through the Group's underwriting platforms and of the specific governance and financial reporting controls for each Platform and Product Segment
  • Collaborates and supports continued transformational development and improvement in Platform and Product controls and reporting.
  • Participates in all relevant meetings, in order to inform and collaborate with segment/other functional areas, sharing knowledge and best practice

Policy, Process and Procedures

  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail when reviewing proportional treaty data records and transactions.
  • Promptly and effectively resolve issues identified by Platform and Product controls for proportional treaties.
  • Ensure that material items identified by premium reporting controls are followed up and escalated to management where required
  • Establish productive and positive relationships with Service Hub Managers for offshore processing.
  • Collaborate with the Claims Department on the timely resolution of delays and accuracy with the processing and posting of claims data for Inward Proportional treaty Statements of Account.
  • Collaborate with Internal and external clients to resolve any queries or technical issues

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

  • Acts as the primary point of referral for Service Hub Managers and underwriting teams on the recording, monitoring and reporting of Proportional Treaty premium data
  • Acts as the primary point of referral for governance functions on all queries concerning proportional treaty data controls.
  • Supports PSCM in the timely and effective management of proportional treaty controls.

Skills & experience:


Knowledge And Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of core (re)insurance principles, premium recognition and types of reinsurance contract structures.
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance cycles and procedures
  • Good working knowledge of business processes and company systems
  • Knowledge of Property, Casualty, and Specialty business classes desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of Proportional Treaty claim handling and event claims is desirable
  • Some understanding of London Market systems and procedures is desirable
  • Experience of (re)insurance and operations environment in a similar role
  • Experience of transformational/process improvement operating environments (preferable)
