An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Junior Sister to join our dynamic and friendly team in a well
- established department.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivate and well organised individual who has significant experience in Dermatology and would like to progress professionally within this specialty.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills and will deputise for their manager co-ordinating the day to day clinical, managerial and educational requirements in the area, whilst delivering and overseeing high standards of specialist care to patients who attend our busy department with a wide range of Dermatological conditions.

You will act as a role model and support to the rest of the team using own initiative and problem solving skills.

You will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the service.

The post holder will be a clearly identifiable a senior clinical and managerial staff member, and team leader.

They will have significant experience and be responsible for delivering care in all areas of Dermatology Outpatients such as Day care / Phototherapy, assisting in theatre during minor operations, providing clinical knowledge and expertise to their team, whilst co-ordinating and delivering high quality care.

They will be a role model and lead on specific projects / management functions as delegated by the Clinic Senior Sister or Matron.

They will uphold the identified Trust values at all times.


In this role as Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse, they will be the assigned deputy for their manager, coordinating the clinical, managerial and education requirements for the area on a day to day basis.

In this role as Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse, they will be the assigned deputy for their manager, coordinating the clinical, managerial and education requirements for the area on a day to day basis.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Phototherapy will possess certificate of course attendance and be signed off as competent.
  • Long term condition management including experience of providing holistic support to individuals living with chronic health care needs.
  • Wound care and advice including suture removal.
  • Administering medications including injections.
  • Maintaining good time management and personal organisation.
  • Providing cover for colleagues in all clinical areas as required.
Leadership and Management

  • Manage the day to day staffing arrangements and rotas, to ensure safe levels of practice.
  • Be a shift coordinator on a regular basis where appropriate.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of and adhere to all trust Protocols of care
  • Take continuing responsibility for the Ward / Department in absence of the manager.
  • Participate in senior nurse / unit on call rota / bleep holder as appropriate.
  • Lead and manage their own clinical team within general clinical areas, and of the total team in the absence of the manager, in line with Trust values.
