    Role Purpose:

    The Senior Wiring / Assembly Technician will be responsible for the assembly of high precision instrumentation, undertaking all aspects of wiring and electrical assembly processes and providing specialist manufacturing skills related to this area. There is also a requirement to ensure the knowledge and know-how necessary to do this are transferred between team members, in order to retain skills within the Business on an ongoing basis.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Wiring of complex assemblies using technical drawings, wiring / circuit diagrams and working instructions
    • Terminal installation
    • Soldering high-density multi-pin connections
    • Soldering surface mount devices
    • Mechanical assembly of control cabinets, racks, frames and associated metalwork
    • Manufacture of cable looms
    • Printed circuit board assembly and repair
    • Repairs and modifications including upgrades in accordance with documented procedures
    • Comprehensive checks on wired assemblies
    • Ensuring all paperwork (hard and soft copy) and electronic systems including ERP is completed accurately to ensure traceability.
    • Maintain good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness whilst complying with best health and safety practice including ESD precautions
    • Produce one-off builds to limited design/engineering instruction, including prototyping.
    • Mentor other team members to improve technical and practical skills.
    • Act as product lead on new products/systems with the Production team.
    • Provide detailed feedback on assembly timings, build schedules and issues to Line Manager and other functional areas as required.

    Required Qualifications / Skills

    • Academic qualification or practical experience in electrical assembly
    • Significant previous assembly experience within a workshop manufacturing environment
    • Excellent soldering skills including complex high-density connectors and surface mount devices, qualifications to IPC-A-610/620 would be an advantage
    • Meticulous assembling skills
    • Able to read and understand electrical drawings including wiring diagrams and PCB schematics
    • Strong time management and be able to work unsupervised to defined deadlines
    • Good communicator and team player
    • Basic Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

    Role Requirements:

    This role is based in the Manufacturing facility and will not be physically demanding although some lifting of equipment will be required.

    It may be necessary to work extended hours from time to time and undertake site-work, for which overnight stays may periodically be needed.

    Full driving license, ability to obtain UKSV security clearance.
