    ROLE OVERVIEW:

    As Operations Manager you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of inspections while maintaining compliance with ISO 17020 and UKAS accreditation standards. You will also work with other parts of the business to assist with growth and profitability.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Operational Management:
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Engineer Surveyors, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, scheduling of inspections, and timely completion of inspections.
    • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize performance, productivity, and quality standards.
    • Monitor and analyse key operational metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Compliance and Accreditation:
    • Ensure compliance with ISO 17020 and UKAS accreditation requirements across all accredited inspection activities.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of LOLER, PSSR, COSHH, PUWER, and other relevant regulations, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and best practices.
    • Participate in internal and external audits to maintain accreditation status.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and ensure the highest level of quality service is delivered.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide strong leadership and guidance to a team of Engineer Surveyors, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
    • Manage the recruitment, training, and development of team members, promoting professional growth and building a skilled and motivated workforce.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide regular feedback to ensure high levels of individual and team performance.
    1. Client Relations:
    • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships through effective communication, proactive problem-solving, and exceptional customer service.
    • Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to identify opportunities for expanding services and ensuring client satisfaction.
    • Address client enquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally, striving to exceed expectations and maintain long-term partnerships.
  • Health and Safety:
    • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all inspections and operations adhere to all health and safety standards.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols, risk assessments, to mitigate potential hazards and ensure the well-being of employees and clients.

    EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree, HNC/HND or similar qualifications in engineering or a related field.

    TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the engineering inspection industry.
    • Knowledge of ISO 17020 and UKAS accreditation standards.
    • Strong understanding of LOLER, PSSR, COSHH, PUWER, and other relevant regulations.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, employees, and stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and delivering exceptional customer service.

    AUTHORITY LEVEL:

    • Approve and sign-off additional payments such as overtime and expenses.
    • Engage sub-contract labour as necessary.
