Community Support Worker


Location:
Leeds (LS26)


Hours: 14.25 hours per week (Thursday, Friday evenings and weekends)

Rate of pay:
£ £13.00 per hour


Reed Community Care are working on a number of new Care Packages supporting children and young people in the Leeds area.

We are looking for a highly skilled Community Support Worker with a minimum of 6 month's experience in Health and Social Care Settings.

You will be required to work with a young male identified as needing additional support. The Service User is a 21-year-old male with Quadriplegia and requires the use of a wheelchair, Epilepsy and Hydrocephalus.


You will be required to support him to access the local community and take part in activities, support with personal care and preparation of food and drink.

The service user has a strict exercise regime to support lower limb maintenance, you will work closelywith the Community Rehabilitation Team who will provide guidance on exercises/stretches which you will assist the Service User to complete.


What we are looking for:


  • Individuals who have experience supporting service users with varying needs including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Mental Health Conditions and Challenging Behaviour.
  • Individuals who can demonstrate a range of deescalation techniques to support service users who may display challenging behaviour
  • Individuals with the ability to positively engage young people with additional needs
  • To be able to commit to an assignment, to ensure structure and stability for our service users.

Your day-to-day duties:


  • Maintain a safe environment through the utilisation of support plans and personcentred risk assessments.
  • Work in collaboration with service users and their families to ensure we are meeting the needs of individuals in our care
  • Supporting service users physical and emotional wellbeing including, Personal Care, Medication Management and Behaviour Management.
  • Motivate service users to access the local community and take part in activities that would have a positive impact on their life.
