    Overview

    The Security and Business Continuity (SBC) Unit sits within Workplace Division in the Directorate for Corporate Transformation and Workplace and is responsible for Physical & Personnel Security, Business Continuity and a Security Improvement Programme.

    The Physical Security Administrator post will be based within the Physical Security Branch located in Saughton House in Edinburgh.

    You must also be willing to work outside standard hours and occasionally at other locations. The post will offer considerable development opportunities in a fast-moving environment, demanding an adaptable and flexible approach. You will be expected to undertake significant on-the-job training upon taking up this post. As part of the role, you will also have the opportunity to potentially pursue specific security professional qualifications.

    The post holders must either hold SC clearance or be willing to undergo the appropriate security clearance checks.

    Responsibilities


    • Administration of the Scottish Government's (SG) Automated Access Control Systems (AACS) by accessing and collating information from multiple systems and making sound decisions often within pressured timeframes.


    • Adding new pass records, assigning access rights and updating pass records as requested ensuring the data input is accurate; prioritising and managing own workflow, escalating decisions as required.


    • Dealing with email and telephone enquiries, and providing advice to the public, representatives of Scottish Government and other organisations.


    • Printing passes to issue to staff and contractors.


    • Liaising and consulting with colleagues across the Scottish Government and its Agencies and partner organisations.


    • Ensuring implementation of all Security and Business Continuity policies and practices; following all guidance to support decision making; providing input into the continuous development of the Unit's role, policies, processes and the use of IT solutions.


    • Assisting with out of hours security sweeps, security incident monitoring and follow up actions.


    • Providing any other reasonable general security administrative duties as required.

    Posts have some scope for hybrid working.

    Minimum Time in Post
    You will be expected to remain in post for a minimum of three years unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade.
