    A unique opportunity to assist with enhancing the Crown Estate Regulatory System Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the roleWe are seeking a Principal Customer Regulatory Specialist Deputy Commissioner of Crown Lands.

    You will lead the provision of expert advice on Crown land matters, the application of statutory responsibilities, and regulatory interventions under a range of legislation.

    You will support our Crown Property operational team and other government agencies in their work, and in the development of legislation and policy across government that affects Crown-owned land.

    You will have primary responsibility for leading a specific aspect of the Commissioner's role - the regulatory and statutory aspects of our management of Crown pastoral land in the South Island High Country.

    You will provide thought leadership and contribute to the implementation of the Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998, which includes providing advice to LINZ staff, our partners and key stakeholders.

    There will also be opportunities to contribute to other regulatory and statutory issues that the Commissioner is involved with.

    You will also be expected to raise opportunities, issues, and risks that could have an impact on, or enhance, our performance.

    Working relationships with Regulators, other government agencies, Iwi, and private sector / service providers,
    the environment, economics, property & community,
    Maintaining awareness of operational, policy and research initiatives and developments across the Crown Estate,
    Previous experience of New Zealand government environment and regulatory frameworks,
    Proven ability to get the message across effectively : whether verbally or in writing,

    Day-to-day, we manage about two million hectares of Crown land, including surplus crown assets, commercial and residential properties, pastoral leases, and forestry licences.

    We administer Crown property with a mixture of hands on and outsourced management including the acquisition and disposal of Crown land, biosecurity programmes and negotiating Crown Forest license fees.

    Our Regulatory Practice and Delivery group manages the regulatory system for how LINZ and other Crown agencies buy, sell, and manage land assets for the benefit of New Zealanders.
