Purpose of Job
Our Green Doctor programme delivers energy advice to vulnerable people across Yorkshire.

Within this team we're developing a specialist team of money advisors who can support people with more in depth advice to help save them money, manage their bills and move out of fuel debt.

The Green Doctor Service helps the most vulnerable groups in society.

With a focus on achieving health and well-being outcomes, the Green Doctors provide a free energy efficiency service to those suffering from or at risk of fuel poverty, providing both energy efficiency audits, advice and fitting technical measures.

The Green Doctor Money Advisor will manage and deliver fuel debt advice and support the wider Green Doctor programme.

The role will focus specifically on providing support to families in financial crisis and with budgeting, advocacy for tackling fuel debt and setting up repayment plans for debt.

They service is delivered across Yorkshire but may also periodically support other Trusts in the North.

We're looking for someone who is organised, personally motivated and confident.

You need to be a good communicator, happy to talk to people on the phone and able to deal with a wide variety of people compassionately and fairly.

You also need to be organised and able to use IT systems.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To support the delivery, reporting & development of the Green Doctor Money Advice service, ensuring that quality advice is provided to vulnerable residents, including low income elderly, disabled and families with young children. Appointments will be delivered either via the telephone or video conferencing where appropriate and determined via triage or from a previous Green Doctor appointment.
  • Complerte and record all assessment details on the database, ensuring accurate and detailed records are taken. Liaise with the wider Green Doctor team.
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills and a friendly and positive attitude to all clients.
  • Assist in seeking funding for the continuation of the Money Advice service, managing budgets and ensuring sustainability
  • Maintain a good awareness of our partner network to ensure we are referring people out of our service to others which can assist with their needs.
  • Work particularly closely with Money Buddies staff for support on case management.
  • Manage own booking of appointments and diary management, and where vacant appoints exist assist with wider Green Doctor telephone appointments.
  • Advocate and liaise for households with energy companies, Yorkshire Water and Gas and Electricity Network providers to ensure customers receive the best possible deal for their requirements. Ensure all vulnerable customers are signed up to the Priority Services Register.
  • To provide feedback and evaluate progress and achievements as required by Groundwork to ensure that stipulated targets, outputs and outcomes are met.
  • Play an active role in the team and actively promote a positive image of Groundwork and representing Groundwork as required at meetings
  • To comply with Groundwork's Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Child Protection policies at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Trust or line manager.
Some out of hours work (evening or weekend) work may be required.


PERSON SPECIFICATION

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience working in a role tackling fuel poverty, or experience of working with public health and/or poverty issues
  • A minimum of one year experience working in environmental management / business services
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in one of the following, Environmental management, energy management, geography, healthcare, social work, or similar discipline / or equivalent work experience in the sector.
You must have relevant qualifications in energy efficiency or renewable technology


As a
minimum:


  • City and Guilds Level award in Energy Awareness issued by the City and Guilds of London Institute now known as the Level 3 award in Energy Awareness.
  • National Vocational Qualification Level Provide Energy Efficiency Services issued by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Salary:
£24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
