We have the exciting opportunity for a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join us at the Evelina London Childrens Hospital.

We are seeking a senior nursing assistant with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.


You should have developed skills in IT and the ability to use Microsoft packages to provide comprehensive administrative and clinical support to the departments and multidisciplinary team.

You will have responsibility for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and person centered care principles which embody the Trust values and behaviour.

You will need the ability to work on your own initiative as well as within a team.

Successful applicants will work closely with Radiologists, Sonographers, Nurses, Administrative and clerical staff and an established team of Nursing Assistants.


Organisation of the department daily, chaperoning patients and assisting clinicians during procedures will be an essential part of your role.

An ability to adapt to changing situations and be flexible is essential.

Carrying out assigned tasks as part of clinical team in support of doctors, sonographers and registered nurses and to undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision.

Organising daily running of the area and liaising with service users.

Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.

  • To support the Ultrasound lists by taking patients into the allocated room when required.
  • To load the patients details onto the Ultrasound machine and confirm patient identification.
  • Assist the patient with positioning themselves on the ultrasound couch.
  • Check the body part to be scanned and prep the patient where applicable.
  • To help hold the patient for certain procedures (for example neonatal hip scans).
  • Liaise with the radiologists and ward staff to organise the scanning and transportation of inpatients.
  • To restock the room and maintain stock level regularly.
  • To restock gowns in changing rooms.
  • To give patient experience feedback forms to all patients.
  • To ensure the waiting areas are clean and tidy
  • To replace the colouring activities in the reception area.
  • To load patient details onto the Ultrasound scanner ready for mobile examinations as required by the radiologist.
  • On occasion there may be the need to assist in paediatric fluoroscopy and xray.
  • On occasion you may be required to provide support to the nursing assistant team within adult ultrasound.
