Description
Do you want to support communications with one of the largest and most engaged workforces in the NHS?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the award-winning communications team at Guy's and St Thomas' and help us shape how we involve, inform and inspire our staff so that they can deliver the best possible patient care.

As Senior Internal Communications Officer, you will be a trusted advisor on all things internal communications, supporting our clinical and corporate teams to deliver clear and timely information to our staff.

You will play a vital part in enabling us to deliver a wide-range of different communications activity, from all-staff briefings and priority operational messages to targeted campaigns and awareness days.

You will work very closely with directors and senior managers across the Trust to make sure that organisational priorities are being communicated using the most effective and efficient methods and channels.

You will also be a champion for our staff, ensuring that their voices are heard and that we make best use of their knowledge, expertise and views in developing our communications.

We are looking for someone who is always looking to identify opportunities for new and better ways of doing things.

You will be a superb writer, a creative thinker, calm under pressure and just as comfortable developing a communications plan as delivering it.

Plan and implement communication strategies to support a wide range of internal campaigns, events, awards and awareness days aimed at staff, using our full range of channels.

Provide internal communications support for the Trust's priority activities including our equality, diversity and inclusion work; 'Showing we care about you' staff health and wellbeing programme; work to introduce Epic, a new electronic health record across the Trust in April 2023; and a project to replace 2 existing intranets with 1.

Be a point of contact for expert advice and planning on all internal communication matters, including ad hoc advisory/editing/design support on a range of staff support requests.

Plan and deliver the daily desktop wallpapers, prioritising messages, agreeing content, obtaining sign-off and arranging publication.

Provide content for and manage the production of the 3-times-a-week staff bulletin, drafting and scheduling messages in line with communications plans.

Work with colleagues, such as workforce; data, technology and information; nursing and midwifery; and our clinical and delivery groups to support their communications requirements.

Establish effective networks internally to maximise knowledge and understanding of the Trust's work and new developments.

Contribute ideas and suggestions to an internal communications forward planner of content and activity to ensure that communications is targeted and coordinated effectively across the organisation.

We provide a comprehensive communications service to the Trust, including internal and external communications, media handling, social media, digital communications, corporate publications and written patient information.

We are committed to providing the best possible information to the wide range of audiences we serve, in particular our patients and the public; our staff; the media; almost 24,000 members and governors; and our many partner organisations, supporters and collaborators.

We do this through a wide range of communication channels, events and campaigns, working closely with staff and patients across the Trust's 5 clinical/delivery groups and other corporate services.

We are proud to have one of the most engaged workforces in the NHS and of the contribution our internal communications makes to this.

We also handle around 1,000 media enquiries a year; maintain over 3,400 web pages; and produce around 480 bespoke patient leaflets.

We're proud that our team brought home the 'Grand Prix' and 'Best in-house team: internal communications' trophies at the 2021 CorpComms awards, and we are always looking to learn and improve the way we do things.

Our team is led by a Director of Communications and we have a number of specialist communications staff. Members of the team work closely together, so there is always plenty of opportunity to develop new skills.

The Trust's internal communications team is responsible for ensuring the Trust's 23,500+ colleagues are engaged and involved in our mission and objectives, and supports managers in effective briefing and dialogue with staff in their areas.

The Senior Internal Communications Officer will support the Internal Communications Manager and Senior Internal Communications Manager to help the Trust communicate with its staff, and promote its values so that they are understood and underpin the behaviour of everyone who works at Guy's and St Thomas'.

They will provide expert advice to support organisational and cultural change.

As an organisation, we are committed to engaging with our workforce, and captur
