    Forklift Workshop Engineer

    Reports to: Workshop Manager

    Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 8am to 5pm are our core working hours, the rest is flexible - we work around your productivity Fridays is normally a shorter day for our workshop team to make up for the early starts

    Location: Unit 10 & 11 Pipers Lane Trading Estate | RG19 4NA

    We are recruiting for an experienced Skilled Senior Workshop Forklift Engineer to join our Exciting 'Team.' The position is full time, and we would love you to work within our Workshop Team based at our HQ Thatcham. We need your forward thinking and skills to maintain, repair, service and modify a range of material handling equipment. Because we are independent every challenge is new and different, and we would really welcome your help.

    Skills and Experience

    You will have worked with material handling products or hold a senior engineering position and are looking for that next step to further your career.

    Full UK driving license, desirable but we are based near a train station.

    Essential to have:

  • Thorough Examination Qualifications
  • City and Guilds in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering related field
  • Diagnostic computer skills
  • Degree qualified in related field or similar years' experience
  • Able to work unsupervised as required
  • Experience in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering in heavy goods / plant machinery / automotive

    • We would love your help with:

    Repairing:

  • Electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components
  • Hydraulic valves and rams
  • Final drive and gearbox components
  • Engines and components

    • Servicing:

  • Gas, diesel and electric powered forklift trucks
  • Using check sheets, checking that the brakes are fully functional, lifting assembly and steering are in working order
  • Changing oil and filters as necessary
  • Thorough Examinations pending qualifications
  • Preventative Maintenance, such as lubricating steering and lifting equipment.

    • Overhaul of Forklift Trucks:

  • Completing partial strip-down of gas, diesel, or electric forklift trucks
  • Preparing, steam cleaning or painting the chassis of forklift trucks
  • Bolting / welding on ancillaries to the chassis'

    • Battery Maintenance:

  • Check voltages and fluid levels of forklift trucks, using meters and hydrometers.

    • New & Used Equipment Preparation:

  • Preparation of gas, diesel and electric forklift trucks by performing per-delivery inspections (PDI's), using check-sheets from the manufacturer to check the specifications to meet the customer's requirements, along with overseeing the dispatch and receipt of trucks in and out of the Depot.

    • Paperwork:

  • Weekly time-sheets
  • Completing PDA on a daily basis to record progress of repairs, parts used or required, etc.
  • Liaising with the Service Controller or Transport team, as necessary and advising of any changes
  • Any other reasonable duties related to this role e.g. May be required to collect spare parts locally. Occasional site support to the field service engineers
