This is an opportunity to work in a brand-new building; The Louisa Martindale Building is opening soon.

We are excited to be moving into level A8 Which is a 27 bedded Dementia Ward.

With its spacious bays, side rooms, amazing views of the sea and the Downs, allowing the best environment to care for our elderly patients.

We specialise in delivering care to the elderly group of patients with cognitive impairment, living with a diagnosis of Dementia or who may have Delirium/Acute confusion.


Are you a Health Care Assistant with drive and enthusiasm working in Dementia care ? Do you enjoy seeing the positive results of your work with patients? Your role within the department will vary from day to day.

From assisting the nursing team, supporting patients and their relatives and managing the stock of the expanding wards.

  • End of life care and care after death
  • All care activities are guided by protocoldriven patient assessments.
  • Provide 11 direct patient supervision and support to patients.
  • Patient teaching, explaining procedures and treatments.
  • Act as patient chaperone during clinical examinations.
  • Safely handle and dispose of healthcare wastes and byproducts using the correct/designated waste routes.
  • Prepare and make patient trolleys/beds; handle, collect, remove and/or dispose of clean and used linen and bed coverings.
  • Carry out routine checks on noncomplex equipment.
  • Assisting with setup of clinical environments and equipment in preparation for healthcare activities.
  • Undertake light cleaning duties such as clean, disinfect and remove spillages (e.g. blood and other body fluids); risk assess different kinds of spillages within written protocols and respond accordingly.
  • Providing mentorship and support to junior members of the team.

  • To actively and safely participate as a member of the nursing team and contribute towards the smooth and efficient running of the ward.
  • To ensure the ward delivers an exemplary service and experience to patients and members of the public.
  • Actively participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team, including the supervision of newly qualified and junior members of staff.
  • Conduct a range of patient care activities and ancillary duties as delegated/directed by a registered healthcare practitioner (following training and assessment of competence as required) and report back on progress/variances.
  • Provide concise, legible, and accurate data and records of own work, handwritten and input to computer systems, eg. Electronic Patient Record.
